Meet the Trauma Specialist
Hi, my name is Allisia Green, and I am the Trauma Specialist here at CAPS. I provide dedicated support to students who are navigating the impact of difficult or overwhelming life experiences, whether recent or longstanding. My goal is to create a safe, supportive, and affirming space where students can explore their experiences, build coping tools, and move toward healing at a pace that feels right for them.
I provide bi-weekly individual therapy for students interested in trauma-focused support. My approach is trauma-informed, culturally responsive, collaborative, and tailored to each student’s unique needs and goals. I recognize that trauma can affect many areas of life including relationships, emotions, identity, academics, and sense of safety. Therapy can provide space to better understand these experiences and develop strategies for support and healing.
As an EMDR-trained clinician (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), I incorporate evidence-based approaches to help students process distressing experiences, reduce emotional overwhelm, and strengthen a sense of resilience and empowerment. EMDR may be integrated into treatment when clinically appropriate and based on a student’s comfort and readiness.
In addition to individual therapy, I offer skills-based workshops and support spaces designed to complement one-on-one care. These spaces focus on practical strategies for managing symptoms commonly associated with trauma, including anxiety, nervous system dysregulation, emotional overwhelm, and interpersonal challenges. Topics may include grounding skills, emotion regulation, boundaries, mindfulness, and self-compassion.
Whether you are navigating a specific traumatic experience, ongoing stressors, or the lasting effects of past experiences, you do not have to navigate it alone. Support is available, and healing is possible!
